Rebels Autumn Classic Results
The Jackson girls won the team race by placing seven runners in the top 10 for a score of 20, better than Northdale Middle School which scored 41 points. In cross country, the lowest score wins.
Veteran Emily Lindell paced newcomers Crown Bisan and Hayley Jiracek to a strong top five finish. Crown, Hayley, and Emily finished the 2 mile course in 14:56, 14:57, and 15:00, respectively. Jenny Omann (15:39), Annie Miller (15:48), Kayla Benjamin (15:56) and Grace Moffitt (15:57) all placed in the top ten to help secure the team win.
The Jackson boys were led by Ben Fischer who won the race in a meet record time of 12:19, ten seconds faster than the old mark of 12:29. As a team, the boys finish one point behind Oak View Middle School. Oak View had their fourth team runner just ahead of Jackson's third team runner...that difference was 0.2 seconds and gave Oak View the team win for the day.
Following Ben was Mark Scheller (12:43) placing 3rd, just 0.7 seconds ahead of Oak View's Fiala Calvin. Sam Rose (12:21) rounded out the top ten by placing 10th. Brandon Bloss (13:30), Keegan Poston (13:34), Jacob Marsolek (13:40), and Garrett Doty (13:44) finished in the top 15 to help secure the team's second place finish.
Full results HERE.
As stated earlier...in cross country, the lowest point total wins. To compete as team, a team must have no less than five finishers. A team's point total is determined by summing the place of those five finishers. As an example, the lowest score, known as a "perfect score", is 15 (sum of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Two more team mates are added and call "pushers", because they can get ahead of another team's 5th runner and push that team's score higher. So a max of seven runners per team impact the scoring in cross country.
